Peanut Butter…Banned at Pinch, Elementary School in WV

August 31, 2006

I was watching channel 13 news and they had a section about peanut butter, and how it was banned from the elementary school. What spurred the media coverage was an issue where a little girl had a peanut butter sandwich and a banana for lunch. Apparently, she was told she could not have the peanut butter sandwich, since it was Pinch Elementary contraband. She was left only with the banana to eat for the day. Read the rest of this entry »

“Act of God” How Far Can Insurance Companies Take This?

August 25, 2006

Last Fall, I visited a local Home Depot, I will admit it was a very windy day, when my incident occured. I had been in the Barboursville store for nearly an hour looking for the various things I needed, well when I go outside, a cart (standard plastic cart–they are used in grociery stores as well) was directly against my truck’s taillight.

My first reaction was “!@#$ what were they thinking”, then I remember the wind, it would have been a great day to fly a kite. Anyway, cart had actually broken my tallight. I was pissed, scratches are tolerable (and it is a truck) but I have to get this fixed to pass WV’s annual inspection. Read the rest of this entry »

Tyra Banks and Anger Management

August 25, 2006

I saw this video and she loses it. It is almost a year old but it is funny, all of the models are crying and they aren’t even being yelled at.

Tweaking SuSE 10.1

August 21, 2006

The free version of SuSE 10 was phenomenal, version 10.1 came up a little short in my opinion with the switch from YOU (Yast Online Update) to libzypp the ZEN updater. Well, I have installed the DVD version of 10.1 approximately 20 times now and sometimes ZEN works and sometimes it doesn’t. I liked YOU better, much better. SuSE 10.1 compared to Fedora is still much better. I have worked with Fedora and Red Hat extensively since 2001 and I must say that SuSE is a much better distribution (for my purposes and my opinion, no flames please). Read the rest of this entry »

Road Construction on I64…again…always.

August 20, 2006

The 2006 Fall semester of Marshall University (MU) is about to start up again on August 21st. Coincidentally road construction begins on I-64 again in Barboursville, WV. What is even better is the placement of the merge lanes. The brains behind the operation last spring, concerning the bridges in Barboursville, the main two lanes merged into one, at the entrance of an onramp. Just remember the STOPPED traffic. New Hampshire Secession

August 20, 2006

Is this for real?, it almost sounds like a utopian society.
There’s a New Hampshire secession movement. This Platform for NH Independence is one that speaks to both conservatives and liberals. Most of the principles are benefits that other states, if they seceded, could have too. No More UN. No More IRS. And Free Trade! How could a society free from massive the central planning of DC not be prosperous?
